Of the many responsibilities of an editor-in-chief, leadership and team building is one that I take very seriously. I would never have been so devoted to the program had my freshman year editors not been so warm and inviting. When it comes to crafting publications, it is easy to place the excellence of the work over the excellence of the community, but that community's strength is always reflected in the quality of the work itself. Thus, I strive year-round to ensure that my staffers are not only doing their work well, but that they are doing work they are passionate about. I seek out one-on-one time with each student to encourage them in their creative process, and every week I work with our advisor to plan exciting team building activities. The greatest product of my leadership over the years, along with the leadership of others, is the yearbook. It is a publication that requires collaboration and strict attention to a detail, and in every book I see the fruits of the immense effort our entire staff devotes to the both the work and the community.
