Photography has always been one of my greatest fears. Until my junior year, I avoided the camera like a particularly deadly plague. However, when I became Assistant Editor of the Publications staff, my inability to take on photo assignments began to affect me as a leader. On realizing that I couldn't support my classmates and community without overcoming my fear, I decided enough was enough. I volunteered to take photos at the Spring Play, and spent the whole next day studying camera settings and preparing to fulfill my deadline. As it turns out, I love photography. Choosing the perfect moment to capture with the perfect lighting and angle: it's a challenging and fulfilling art. I especially love taking single-subject shots, since the emotions I get to capture are truly invigorating and beautiful.
